I continue to share our video walks around Toronto. This time we headed north to North York Center, one of the largest business hubs in Greater Toronto.
North York is one of my favorite routes for walks. This time we walked north from Yonge-Sheppard subway station to Finch station.
Along the way, we see many small restaurants, cafes, and tea houses. This area of Toronto is one of several Chinatowns in the city, possibly one of the largest, second perhaps only to South Spadina in size and population.
We filmed this video in November 2020, and Toronto businesses are limited due to quarantine: they can only serve their guests for takeout or, in rare cases, on outdoor patios. Autumn favored them, the weather was warm and sunny, and even in November, it was still possible to sit on the open terrace of a favorite restaurant.
North York is one of the six administrative centers of Toronto. Population (2016): 869,401. The area was founded in 1921 and became part of Toronto in 1954. North York is the second-largest business hub in Toronto after downtown.
